One of the largest archaeological excavations in Europe are currently taking place together with the construction of a new Subway Line at the city of Cologne.

Our Office is in charge of three excavation areas of three newly built subway stations at „Chlodwigplatz“, „Kartäuserhof“ und „Severinstraße“. At the excavated area of the Chlodwigplatz alone  3500 square metres of city history were analysed and documented.

Since the start of the excavations in 2004 some  410 roman tombs, roman road, remains of the late middle age fortifications, early moder era subterranean structures and the oldest construction of St. Katharina have been excavated and documented.
